Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some of our most commonly asked questions. Have others? Reach out to us here.

  • We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel in under 24 hours from the time of your appointment one time we understand, however more than once you will be charged the cost of the session for late notice. You will be reminded of your appointment via phone call the day before your appointment to confirm the time of arrival, and to reschedule if need be.

  • Patients are allowed to undergo physical therapy through direct access IF they have private insurance ONLY. This means if a patient wants to come in for physical therapy before visiting a doctor’s office for a prescription, they can attend for 10 visits or 30 days before they need to obtain a prescription.

You MUST have a prescription for the initial evaluation if you have MEDICARE.

  • Your initial evaluation is vital to design a program specific to your needs. We will take the time to understand your goals and decide how many sessions are necessary to address them.

Earlier weeks are often needed to build strength and or flexibility to build up to the endurance needed for appointments several days per week. Other times, more intensive therapy is required up front, and as you gain independence the amount per week reduces. We will use the evaluation also for ordering any assistive devices, materials, and/or garments needed for your care.

  • The responsibility for improvement falls on the individual, too. The stretching and strengthening exercises are really something that has to be done almost daily. You’re not going to get the progress or improvement you need just relying on going to your therapy visits, so you have to do exercises at home. Ultimately, we’re trying to get people to a point where they can maintain themselves and do their exercises at home or at the gym and go on with their lives. We push people so they can be independent and not reliant on us, medication or other treatments.

  • Compression is a key component in complete decongestive therapy. It helps to maintain the effect of manual lymph drainage and continue to massage your limb when the fit is appropriate. We will custom measure you, so your stocking and sleeve will finally feel comfortable and continue to improve your limb when outside of therapy.
